Meet the Team in Ethiopia

LOVE IN ACTION

Serving in Ethiopia

Wubishet Girmaw

In-Country Director, One Love Academy

Wubishet always dreamed of helping people, especially children. After moving to Addis Ababa from the countryside of Ethiopia, Wube earned a degree from St. Mary University. He was quickly drawn to help the children of the economically challenged area of Shiromeda and partnered with One Love to open One Love Academy in 2016.

“It takes a lot to make a school great and special. I am motivated by a love for the school climate, the beautiful staff, and the community involvement.”

In his free time, Wube enjoys reading, learning new things from the internet, walking, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Yordonos Wolde Darsema

Social Worker, One Love Academy

When Yordonos heard about the mission of One Love, she immediately wanted to be part of the team making a difference in the lives of others. As the social worker caring for 150 students and their families, she loves to see the smiles on the faces of One Love Academy students. She enjoys the work environment, parents, and staff at One Love and connecting with mission teams when they visit.

“Empathy inspires me most. It’s a humbling experience to reach out and try to understand and share what others feel.”

Yordi earned her degree from Jimma University in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. She loves reading, cooking, baking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family.
